Our country cooks arrive before dawn
most mornings to make coffee.
By the time the rest of the staff gets here,
the aroma of the day's mouth-watering
dishes fills the air.
We now have complimentory Wi-Fi
internet access in the dining room!
Our daily special is a meat and two vegetables, or you can enjoy pinto beans & cornbread or vegetable soup in a bread bowl. You haven't lived till you've eaten one of our special home-style meals, and it would be a cryin' shame if you didn't try some of those famously tempting desserts!
Pull up a chair and enjoy a meal as they've been fixed in country kitchens for generations, by ladies like Miss Faye who cooked here for years before her retirement. Just a “country gal,” but she was world-renowned for her crispy fried cornbread and her tart & delicious fried green tomatoes. And they’re still on the menu some days!
Vegetables fresh from the farm garden. ..greens more tender and sweet than any you've ever tasted before. ..tart and delicious fried green tomatoes -- chicken 'n' dumplins like you remember from your grandmother's kitchen -- heavenly peach cobbler and coconut cake and fried apple pies -- the Museum staff would be hard pressed to name a favorite. You'll just have to stop by and decide for yourself!
Need a cake for Saturday night's company? Call ahead to arrange for our kitchen to bake one for you.
(Insider's Tip: When you come in, ask if they have any sourdough bread.)
