Sometimes they are
tilled with a mule-drawn plow. Sometimes one of
the guys cranks up the electric tiller and makes the
lambs go scurrying. Sometimes the wildflower
garden sees a rare hepatica
pushing its way up through crowding Virginia
bluebells. Always, our gardens are seasonal,
living reminders of how the lives of our ancestors were tied to the soil.
The Museum of Appalachia is open during daylight hours
year-round, except Christmas Day. Closing times
vary with the seasons, depending upon daylight hours.
Please telephone for exact hours of closing.
