Our Mission

These pages represent the Museum's continued commitment to a program of expansion and growth, adding new exhibits, buildings, and educational programs to enhance its mission to inform and entertain visitors while “preserving the past for the future.” In placing some of our vast collection on the web we wish to share our collection with a broader audience.

By so doing we hope to instill a greater knowledge of and appreciation for our rich and colorful Appalachian heritage, not only regionally but nationally, and even internationally.
